Cricketers Shaw-5th June 2010

A review by Viking.

Where to start with this one? Expectations were high, what with Charlie and Norma enjoying their 40th Anniversary, the Dogs showcasing their recently acquired sound man and bringing a reputation for playing driving solid rock, until they could play no more. Plus this line up has had several gigs under their belts enabling them to form that muso relationship that binds a band together. Things were looking good-and damn good they were!!

Almost three hours of Rock Classics is far too much music to bore you all with an itinerary-suffice it say with tunes from the likes of Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Ac/Dc, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Gun, Black Sabbath and many more -ROCK was the order of the night. Oh-I nearly forgot-and Journey too!!

And that brings me nicely to one of many highlights of the night. Charlie and Norma’s presentation-just before the band opened their set Alan informed me there was a bottle of Champers waiting for the Duo-how to arrange a “Presentation”? A quick word with Mr C, who had planned to hand over a Card to the couple-so a “plan” was hatched that, when the band played Journey-“Don’t Stop Believing” (appropriate, methinks) I would sneak over to Alan, obtain the “goods”, back to Mr. C, who would “invite” Charlie and Norma to the stage. Isn’t it good when a “plan” comes together?! Duly abashed said people received their offering, but, unfortunately for them, that was not the end of it-Viking is asked to make a bit of “speech”, duly delivered-ending in an exhortation to the Crickie’s Audience to offer Charlie and Norma a round of applause on their special Day. The Enthusiasm and genuine warmth of the cheer that went up is a mark of how much Affection and Respect they hold in the eyes of those who know them. Most Excellent people.

The Band-Rob on drums-powerhouse of a Percussionist-a joy to watch and co-creating the platform along with Tony on Bass for Mr C to play Lead as only he can-eyes closed, feeling every note and making it look all too easy-which, of course, it ain’t!! Tony, some may remember started life as Drummer for the band and stepped into the Bass slot quite recently. I have to say-I have never seen him so comfortable and clearly enjoying his music as now-his heart and soul going into every chord, playing with power and precision on every tune. It is my belief that, iffen one was able to cut the dude in half one would find the word ROCK written there in letters of fire!! And then there’s Dale on Vox-perfect “Frontman”-interacting with the Audience on every tune, carrying the Songs apparently without effort and, again, clearly enjoying himself-those of a certain age will understand my appreciation of the guy when I say his style is reminiscent of Roger Chapman (he of “Family” fame), which is no faint praise indeed!
Tight, focussed and in total sync are just some of the positive descriptions one can justly apply to this outfit.

One further member of the Team requires mention in this “Review”-the Soundman-Loz-a fellow Nwb’er, going under the name of “ejectthetape” (there is a “story” behind that!!). With a CV that includes currently working at several top Manchester Venues it could be expected that the Sound and Lighting would be done well. I can only offer my opinion that I cannot remember watching a Band where the sound was so well balanced maintained. Damn good stuff. Many people in the Audience remarked on it-with good reason. I managed to have a chat with him before the start-what a top guy-look forward to meeting him again. Top work, Bro-you just need to get on those “E Cigs” now?

Overall it was one of those nights that will be remembered for all the right reasons for a very long time to come, methinks, demonstrating once more that Live Music, a good Audience in a cracking Venue can provide an outstanding night out of Fun and Music to lift the soul. Hell Yeah!!

Oddies Bank Holiday Bash - Sunday 30th May

This was the Dogs second visit to Oddies. Great venue, GREAT PEOPLE!!. And what a night it turned out to be. Right from the first note we knew it was gonna be a rockin night. In fact Dale rocked out so hard that he destroyed the strings on his guitar...doh!! The rest of the band worked equally as hard to provide the best rock show possible. Rob excelled on his skins, Tony provided the animated Bass notes, despite suffing from a throat infection, and Mr C was....well Mr C!!!

The dogs would like to thank all the staff at Oddies for their help and all the fans (new and old) for their continuing loyalty.

Hard Rock Cafe, Manchester 26-03-10

We love the Hard Rock Cafe...but tonight seemed different. The place was packed. Now this might be a good sign, however people, we cant go onstage until you clear it!!!! hint hint!!.

The dogs played another outstanding 2+ hours, with packed venue dancing away.

Thanks to the boys down at the front who joined in and sang along...great stuff.Back in May (SEE GIG GUIDE)

Oddies 20th March 2010

This is a new venue for the dogs but what a venue. After a blistering two and a half hour set the dogs left the stage. Hopefully we will play there again soon. The dogs would like to thank all the staff for the assistance at the end of the night. It seemed like we had a professional crew!!! And a big thanks to Roy "Chubby" Brown...you know who you are.

Hard Rock Cafe, Manchester Friday 12th Jan.

When is a secret gig not a secret gig???.....

For those few in the know, this would be a very important night in Boneyards history, for tonight was the VERY FIRST performance of the new Boneyard Dogs unit. And what a night it turned out to be.

The new lineup worked perfect and everyone who attended agreed that the future looks brighter than ever for this well established rock 'n' roll machine. And the band repaid the compliment by playing a blistering two and a half hour set.

Next stop...a kinda homecoming gig for Tony K ... The Cricketers in Shaw.

MOSES GATE , FARNWORTH 22nd Jan 10

And lo it came to pass that Ray invited the BYD over the threshold of the Moses Gate for the first time in over 12 months.
And it was good!!!!!!
Many thanks to all who came to see us, especially the guy from Wiltshire, and we hope to return soon.
The boys blasted through the usual rock marathon and a good time was had by all.

Next stop the Guzzlin goose in Ashton. Tone sends his apologies as he is off to see his mum in Scotland, however a more than capable dep will be in situ so the BYD juggernaut can roll on.

Thanks to Rob H.

STOP PRESS...LATE REVIEW....WHITTLES CHARITY NIGHT REVIEW

On Thursday 2nd July Whittles held another of its Fund Raising Charity
Rockathons for Christies. The usual suspects turned out to see the
regular benevolent bands offer their services to raise money for a those
who need it. Thanks go to Martin for organising the music and Keef for
doing the raffle and despite some technical difficulties the evening
went well.

The Dogs took to the stage at about 10.45 and ripped through 30 minutes
of Ear Candy for the people who were digging deep into their pockets. A
whirlwind of sweat, sticks, riffs and vocal swells blew the throng away.
And as quick as they were on................... the Dogs were gone.

A 30 minute blast of classic rock covers amongst a cacophony of heavy
angst, all in the name of a worthy cause. But fear not Dog lovers the
boys are back in town on the 18th.

This review is going to start with a question....

Have you ever been to a gig where you’ve walked out at the end and thought “ that was something special”?

Well the people who were at the Thatched House on the 26th do!

An intimate evening was witness to a tight as you like performance by the purveyers of top notch classic rock, Boneyard Dogs. The return of Kev on Bass was a welcome sight to those that were there as was the sight of  Dales friend trying to disrupt his Rock God Frontman performance. The disruption failed but the ‘Dogs’ succeeded at everything they did.

Apart from a short period 5 minutes in where Mr.C’s valves thought about  ‘going Hiroshima’ the performance was near to Godliness….just to supplement how clean the band are!!!!

An impromptu drum solo from ‘The King of Heavy Artillery’ TK covered for the valves and after some coolness the problem was solved. The gig came to an end with a storming version of Hells Bells which the denizens of the Thatched House did believe had woken the dead!

Thanks to Alex and the crew and the Dogs will roll on to the Werneth Arms, Oldham on the 18th July.

The Date - Saturday 20th June, The Time – 2130, The Place Whittles,

The Event – The Return of the mighty Boneyard Dogs

The excellent Whittles venue was once again jumpin to the sounds of Super Simons Disco extravaganza and the Molten Metal stylings of the BYD.

Many thanks need to go to Mr.Russell Burns and his two associates ( his shirt and shades ) for helping us fill the tall gap that Kev left as he was unavailable.

The expectation of 2 ½ hours + of classic riff ology, Vocal dexterity and tub thumpery was not unfulfilled as the ‘Dogs’ delivered once again. The only shadow on the lung of this gig was when Mr.C’s valves set on fire right at the death.

That is how hot the dogs were at Whittles…………….so hot they caused an amp to ignite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many Thanks to all who attended and Keef and his great staff.

Next stop The Thatched House in Stockport on the 26th.

Sun 14th June - Old Market Tavern -Altrincham: This is one of those venues that can't get enough of the Dogs Rock 'N' Roll antics... and we love coming back here time and again to please the crowd.

Sunday nights are a bit quieter, but we rocked the joint till nearly half eleven, blasting through the 11-15 curfew (With Jimmys permission of course!)

Back here in September for more of the same. In the meantime, we're back at Whittles next Sat 20th June... See you there!

Sat 13th June - The Turnpike - Ashton: A welcome return to the Turnpike for the third Spread Eagle Reunion Bash!!!!!!

What a great night, and once again, it was a real treat to see all those old faces (some of them very old by now!!!!!!)

The Dogs hit the stage at 9-45pm and strutted their rock 'n' roll stuff for the usual solid 2 hours and then some. Encore after encore had to be cut short at just gone midnight after technical problems left Mr C as quiet as a very quiet thing that has got a very good reason for being very quiet indeed!!!!! (Valves set on fire, BUT WHAT AN ENCORE!!!!)

A great crowd, a great pub and a great atmosphere made this a night to remember for all the right reasons!

Back at the Old Market Tavern in Altrincham tomorrow, Sun 14th. See you there!

Sat 30th May - The Hindley Arms - Hindley (nr Wigan): Back for our second visit (with this line-up of the Dogs) to The Hindley. And what a night!!!! The crowd were great, rockin' and dancin' - and managing not to knock anything over!!!! Quite amazing considering the jumping around they were doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hats off to Jeff who got up and sang "Whole Lotta Rosie" (allowing Dale a much needed toilet break!)

The three hour show went on till well past midnight including the now legendary "Boneyard Encores" lasting more than 30 minutes!

Cheers guys for a great night.

And once again, as we came off stage, the supper was at hand. Cheers to Dave and the rest of the gang for the fried chicken supper... IT WAS FINGER LICKIN' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! H' mm.

We return here on Sat 8th August for more of the same (Rockin and chicken... we hope!!!!!

Next stop for The Dogs is The Turnpike in Ashton on Sat 13th and The Old Market Tavern on Sun 14th June. See ya... BYD!

Sat 23rd May - The Cricketers - Shaw: Another great night of rockin' 'n' rollin' at The Cricketers. A great venue, with a great crowd. The Dogs did their "thang" and then did their "extended encore thang", they just kept shouting for more, and we obliged!

Here again on 29th August. Next stop The Hindley Arms next Sat 30th May.

Fri 22nd May - Blackburn Rugby Club - Accrington MCCs Rally: Back for a very welcome return to Accrington MCC, they sure know how to throw a MIGHTY PARTY!!!!!!!!!!! ( www.accringtonmcc.org.uk/)

The Dogs had them dancing on the tables, falling over the monitors and spilling drinks, causing chaos, all adding to the ambience of the night! And the bare boobies were the most surprising part of the whole gig!

These guys know how to ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We rocked and they rolled!

Mick was on hand once again from Mainstreet Music he did an amazing job on the PA. www.mainstreetmusic.co.uk

Also a big thank you to Ian for once again MC'ing and DJ'ing the whole night.

We're heading on down to The Cricketers in Shaw tomorrow night!

Fri 15th May - Hard Rock Cafe - Manchester: Back at the Hard Rock once again for another mind bending blitz of Boneyard ROCK 'N' ROLL!!!!!

Our stay this time was a little shorter than usual due to the fact that it took forever to remove certain people from the stage area so we could set our gear up!!!!!

That aside, we set up, we rocked, we encored and still played through 2hours of supercharged rockin' an' rollin'!!!!!! Leaving the stage at 1-45am!!! A Boneyard Record!

Back here in July (Fri 24th). Next week the Dogs return to Accrington MCCs bash at Blackburn Rugby Club... for another fine night of "Rock 'n' Booooooooze", see you there!

Fri 8th May - Old Isaacs - Atherton: Old Isaacs is a new haunt for The Dogs. It's owned by the same folk who run Whittles, so we knew we were in for a treat!

The rain poured and poured, and we got half soaked trying to get our gear into the venue in between bouts of hailstone!!!!!!

Once in however, we set up, got rockin' and didn't look back!!!

The Dogs usual two and a half hours ensued till gone midnight, and of course included the obligatory extended encores!

There's no doubt this won't be the last Old Isaacs have seen of BYD!!!!!!!

Next stop is a welcome return to the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester next Friday 15th May!

Keep on rockin' in the "free" world!

Fri 17th April - Rising Moon Motorcycle Rally - Austerlands Cricket Club - Oldham: The 3rd Rising Moon Rally was a great success, with The Dogs kicking off the celebrations on the Friday night.

Playing for 3 hours including the usual bevy of encores, the Dogs rocked the joint, and had 'em dancing on the tables!!!!!

Everyone had a great time and it was nice to see some familiar faces in the crowd!

Next stop is Old Isaacs in Atherton on Fri 8th May, see you there and ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!

Sat 28th March- Thatched House - Stockport: Once again, another great night at The Thatched.

After PA gremlins were well and truly routed out and banished, The Dogs hit the stage at full speed and kept going till well gone midnight! It was a record encore count, as we partied for 50 minutes after our "last" song!

A big thank you goes out to the young lady who took it upon herself to clamp Dales nipples with her false nails... "OUCH"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were still sore on Sunday night!!!!

We return here on Fri 26th of June, suitably protected with nail proof chest armour!

Next stop is the Rising Moon Bike Rally on Fri 17th April.

Also, back in the studio for more recording next Sat 4th April...

Sat 21st March - The Werneth - Oldham: This is the third visit to The Werneth by the New Dogs with Dale on vocals and Kev on bass... and we ROCKED!!!

A great crowd and a great pub! There was dancing, singing and movin' to the groovin' as The Dogs partied through their rockin' set, pandering to the die hard rock fans that make up the Werneth crowd!

The return to The Werneth is 18th July.

Next Stop is The Thatched House in Stockport next Sat 28th March.

Fri 20th March - Hard Rock Cafe- Manchester: The HRC welcomed us with open arms once again for another ear splitting blitz of hard rockin' as only The Dogs can deliver!

Despite Lionel Ritchie saying "Hello" across the road at the arena, the crowd gathered in anticipation, and they weren't let down!

Playing the usual MASSIVE set of classic rock till gone 1am (including the obligatory 30-40 minutes of encores that comes with the territory) The Dogs gave their all, and left the crowd still wanting more. Back here on 15th May.

Tomorrow night we're doing it again at The Werneth in Oldham! This is what Rock 'N' Roll is ALLLLLLLL about!!!

Sat 28th Feb - Whittles - Oldham: What can we say about Whittles? It's home ground for the Dogs and has been for years... it's what The Cavern was to Beatles, or the Ruskin Arms to Iron Maiden!

The crowd were up for it, the band were up for it, and Simon (resident DJ/sound man) was up for it!!!!!! We took our own 4k rig, and linked it up with the Whittles sound system to blast the glasses off the shelves, and knock the wax out of Dales ears!!!!

As usual, the crowd were present in droves, rockin' the night away, till well past midnight. At Simons request, we kept it to below three hours... JUST!!!!!

Then all too soon, the noise was over, the sweat spent and the Rock 'n' Roll behemoth that is Boneyards Dogs took to the night and left Whittles ears ringing in the aftermath! (Mine are still ringing now!!!)

Back here at Whittles on 20th June. Next stop for us is Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester on Fri 20th March. See you there!

Sat 21st Feb - The Cricketers - Shaw: Back at the Cricketers for a welcome return!

The crowd were excellent and The Dogs rocked the joint with their usual energy and intensity and a rockin' good night was the result.

Playing their finale of over 30 minutes of encores, the Dogs had the condensation running off the walls!!! (Literally folks... the moisture poured onto the mixing desk and blew a fuse in one of the amps - which we had to replace mid-song!!!!!!)

A big thanks to all the gang who turned up to see us, it's you guys that make it all possible!!!!!!

Back here on 23rd May. Next week on Sat 28th Feb - Whittles.

Sat 7th Feb 2009 - Accrignton MCC - Poplar Social Club - Accrington: WOW! Words can't express what went on!!! The crowd were amazing, the PA was amazing (and if I say so myself) the band were amazing!!!

What a night! The Dogs did their usual 2 hours (and then some) without a break, wowing the crowd, who were up dancing for the greater portion of the night! The music pounded, the rock rolled and the sweat poured as only it can when every one gives 100%!!!!!! Encores followed, and the crowed begged for more!

A perfect night!

A big thanks to Mick at Mainstreet Music for an amazing job on the PA. He was a real pro, getting the sound perfect!!!!! If you ever need a professional rig for your band, concert or rally, this guy comes highly recommended: www.mainstreetmusic.co.uk

Also a big thank you to Ian for MC'ing and DJ'ing the whole night.

A mega big thanks to Accrignton MCC for:

1] Putting the whole show on, and arranging everything... it went smoothly and according to plan, excellent work guys!

2] Inviting us to headline.

3] Hiring a mega PA so we could blast the back wall out of the venue, raise the roof and bring the rafters down!!!!

Here's what they said about the night on their web site www.accringtonmcc.org.uk/

'It turned out to be one of our busiest nights in ages and the new venue at Poplar Social club Accrington turned out to be a good replacement to our old King St Pub. Boneyard Dogs featuring their new line up and singer played flawlessly and kicking much ass! With many people asking for their contact details it said a lot about their show. Our Manchester Millions Cancer Fund Charity raised over £200 and the generosity of the crowd donated generously to Scotty's(Scavs) get well hardship fund. It shows bikers still support good causes despite many peoples own financial difficulties just now.Very much appreciated'

We're back in this neck of the woods for the next AMCC rally at Blackburn Rugby Club on Fri 22nd May!!! Same crowd, same PA and the same dedication to rocking out and having a rockin' good time!!!! See you there guys.

More local on Sat 21st Feb, the Cricketers Arms in Shaw!

ROCK 'N' ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sat 31st Jan 2009 - Nags Head - Macclesfield: Our 1st time here at the Nags Head in Macc, but by no means the last if the crowd here tonight are anything to go by.

Despite the biting cold wind out there in the blustery night, people flocked in to see "The Mighty Boneyard Dogs"... not our words, that's how we were billed by the pub!!!

Thanks to everyone who came especially Ian who help carry the gear!

Next stop, Sat 7th Feb for Accrington MCC's bash at Poplar Social Club in Accrington!.

Sat 17th January 2009 - Hark To Towler - Tottington - Bury: Yes, The Dogs are back, kicking off 2009 with a rip roaring night at Hark 2Towler.

The audience were amazing! We'll have a picture of them very soon on the Gallery page... don't forget to check it out!

Playing their usual two hours plus, The Dogs rocked the joint with their unique brand of classic rock, finishing the night with a mighty performance of AC/DC's "Hells Bells"!

The crowd wanted more, but the "blistering noise curfew" of 11-30 was well and truly blasted through, so we had to say our goodbyes.

Cheers to John for the top-notch job on the mixing desk.

Not back here until October, so it's a long wait for the locals, but we're back on Sat 31st Jan in Macclesfield at the Nags Head... See you there!

--------------------HAPPY NEW YEAR - 2009 starts here!!!!! -----------------------

Sat 20th Dec - Old Market Tavern - Altrincham: What can we say about the Old Market Tavern? What a place, what a crowd, what an atmosphere. Everyone was in the Christmas spirit, and we rocked the joint 'till past midnight!

Curfew of 12-15am was blasted through as Jimmy gave us permission to do "just two more..." if we felt like it. Felt like it we did, and two more encores were duly delivered, despite the sweat and exhaustion!

We're back here on Sat 18th April.

Next stop for us is Hark To Towler, Tottington, Bury on Sat 17th Jan 2009! A Merry Metal Christmas and a Happy New Boneyard Year to one and all!

Fri 19th Dec - Thatched House - Stockport: Another warm welcome from The Thatched, a great pub, a great gig and a great atmosphere.

Dale remembers this place from the early '90's when big Brian and Neville were in charge. During the summer of 1994 his PA was installed here on an almost permanent basis, and he was the resident sound man.

The stage is bigger, the bar has been moved to the corner, but the crowd, the atmosphere and the rockin' good times remain as good as ever!

Long live the Thatched!!!!

Sat 29th Nov - Werneth Arms - Oldham: Despite the cold, the wet and the heavy, icy fog, The Dogs played up a sweat to be proud of at this second visit to The Werneth!

The crowd were excellent, and the cold miserable weather soon forgotten as we got into our stride and "rocked their socks off"!!!!!!!!!

All too soon it was over (after another 35 minutes of blistering encores), and we had to vannish into the fog, but worry not, we shall return!

Next stop on this whirlwind tour, seeing the end to 2008: Friday 19th Dec at The Thatced House in Stockport.

Sat 22nd Nov - Turnpike - Ashton-under-Lyne: The Dogs played up a storm at this second Spread Eagle re-union. From about 9-30pm 'til past midnight, once again featuring a massive 45 minute encore! We were exhausted, and never was the term "rock, rock 'till you drop" more applicable.

Nice to see so many old faces, it truly was a "blast from the past", the Spread being where Dale played his first gigs in the eighties! Sooooooooooooo long ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Spread Eagle closed down in 1999 to make way for a Lidl food store!!! What a waste!

Thanks to Gavin for MC'ing the whole evening, and Miss Fish for the excellent chile!

Next stop: The Werneth in Oldham, Sat 29th Nov.

Friday 21st Nov - Hard Rock Cafe - Manchester: Another triumph! The Dogs performed a steaming 2 hour [+] classic rock set once again at Manchester HRC!

A big hello to the Christmas revellers from Ireland who shouted and cheered us on, dancing in the wings.

The Dogs played on 'till past one o-clock.

Thanks to everyone who came down to support us, we'll see you in full force at The Turnpike (Ashton-under-Lyne) tonight (Sat 22nd Nov) for the Spread Eagle re-union.

The Rock Dogs continue to party on, dudes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday 31ts Oct - Whittles Halloween Bash - Oldham: Well, what can we say? Once again the Whittles crowd were manic! All sorts of weird and wonderful outfits were on display, from ghosts and skeletons, to vampires and ghouls. There were some horny little devils, and sexy witches too... ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh YES!!!

As usual, The Dogs delivered a massive 3 hour set, bashing out rock classics from the last 40 years! A 45 minute encore was only ended by sheer exhaustion (oh and the bar staff wanting to go home!)

Sweat was pouring, blood was sucked and bones were chomped as the the rock and roll behemoth that is The Boneyard Dogs gave Whittles the rocking of a lifetime!

Next stop on the "New Leash of Life Tour" is the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester on Friday 21st November. See you there.

Friday 17th Oct - The Talbot- Burnley: This was the first visit to the Talbot of The Dogs new line-up, the last time we played here, Dale was on bass and Rob was singing.

What a night, what a crowd, and what a performance! The line was drawn, and the New Dogs have crossed over with roaring success! Encores pounded for 40 minutes, and the crowd were left STILL wanting more! The bar staff will have their work cut out for them on Saturday morning, picking up the pieces... As we raised the roof, and brought the house down!

Next stop, Whittles Halloween bash on Friday 31st Oct... SPOOKY!!!

Friday 3rd Oct - Hard Rock Cafe - Manchester: Competing with Stevie Wonder at the Arena was no problem for The Dogs; rocking like only we can. Over two hours of in yer face rock, including over 30 minutes of encores (as usual... they just wouldn't let us go!!!)

A big hand must go to our drum bashing amigo Tony for getting through the gig with a sterling performance despite his little problem with the bass drum skin. Well done Tone!

Kev made a welcome return on bass.

We're back here on 21st November.

Saturday 27th Sept - Hark To Towler - Tottington - Bury:

We were a little apprehensive about this venue when we found out that HALF our set is BANNED!!!!! YES, BANNED... the guy who runs this place is so sick of hearing certain songs he refuses to allow bands to play them!!!!! So we've had to re-learn some of our older songs and some new ones... but in the words of Mr C on the night "I didn't miss them songs at all!!!!!"

John, the man in question who runs the gigs was a fine chap, and not some control freak, draconian, megalomaniac as we had envisioned. Cheers John for a great job on the mixing desk.

We had a great night and, so did the punters, so all's well that ends well. We will be returning here very soon.

Thanks to Russ who stood in once again on bass. Next Stop: Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester on Friday 3rd Oct.

Saturday 20th Sept - Hindley Arms - Wigan: Dale and Kev's first visit to the Hindley Arms was a major triumph... the Dogs played for more than 2 hours, and the pizza was well and truly earned...Cheers to the barstaff for that! And thanks to the locals who cheered us on through OVER 30 mins of encores!!!!!

We have a slight mistake to rectify, apparently this is a Hydes pub, NOT Holts as stated in the previous post in March - sorry.

Friday 12th Sept - Red Lion - Longton - Preston: Once again, the Red Lion crowd welcomed us with open arms. Despite the fact that complaining neigbours meant the show had to be over and done with at 11-30, The Dogs played true to form and rocked the roof off the joint!

Friday 15th August - Hard Rock Cafe - Manchester: Joined once again by Russ from Sin After Sin on bass, the Hard Rock Cafe rocked to the sound of the Dogs! Playing for over 2 hours until the wee hours, despite Mr C's amp giving him some gyp by blowing a couple of fuses... like a trooper, he soldiered on regardless.

It was a double special occasion; as well as the new line up playing here for the first time, it was Dale's birthday bash to boot!

Friday 29th July - Roaches Lock - Mossley: Due to summer holidays gigs in July and August are thin on the ground. However, the Dogs played up a storm at their first appearence here at the Roaches Lock... despite the fact we were worried we wouldn't get all our gear in the space allotted.

Needless to say, we squeezed everything (and everybody in) and cranked up the volume for an ear-splitting rock'n'roll extravaganza, as only the Dogs can! Ohhh YES!!!

See you at the Hard Rock Cafe this Friday 15th August for Dales birthday BASH!!!

Thurs 26th June - Whittles - Oldham

With Kev back on duty as the rumbling (and towering) bass engine, the Dogs returned for this guest appearance amongst a 7 band line-up, all in the name of charity! A half hour set of the "cream of the Dogs" (usually much longer) best of the best, Classic Rock repertoire!

Sun 22nd June - Whittles - Oldham

The Dogs return to their home venue for the special occasion of ex-singer Robs birthday bash!!!!! Joined on bass on this occasion by old hand Russ (Of "Sin After Sin" fame), who stood in at the last minute for Kev. Once again, in traditional Boneyard style, the house rocked, the roof quacked and the walls rumbled!!!

Sat 14th June - The Criketers - Shaw

Another fine performance by the newest line-up of the Old Dogs. Once again, Kev and Dale want to thank the regulars here for the warm welcome: - Rock on dudes!!!

Sat 7th June - Thatched House - Stockport.

The newest line-up of The Dogs played their first gig. Kev played bass with the band for the first time with just 3 rehearsals!!! He did a mighty fine job, and rocked with the best of them!!!! Dale is settleing in as the new front man, and would like to thank the crowd of regulars for welcoming him to the fold with open arms. A splendid time was had by all!! The Dogs party contiues to rock ever onward!!!

==================================================================

29.03.08 - Whittles - Oldham
Time to say goodbye and what a party!
Well this was it, Rob's final appearance with the Dogs after 11 years. Words can't begin to describe the atmosphere - you just had to be there. Whittles hasn't seen such a crowd and it probably won't see such a turn out for some considerable time to come. From when the guys hit the stage at 9:20 until they finally came off at 12:40 after a blistering rendition of Skynyrd's Freebird, they played a staggering non-stop set of pure high-octane rock and roll the way only Boneyard Dogs can. It was just an incredible 3 hours and 20 minutes of adrenaline total rock and fun...no wonder the guys got landed with the nickname the 'Duracel Boys' Rock!

And a few words from the man himself...
I really don't know where to begin. It's been an amazing 11 years with the best band of its kind. We've had our 'Spinal Tap' moments for sure, but that's all part of the fun. Why am I leaving? You tell me. It's inevitable when some one makes an intensely private decision others are all to quick to come up with their own reasons. 28.03.08 - Brewery Tap - Idle
And Idle is anything but.
Not the biggest of areas to set up in, but the fantastic acoustics aided by a low ceiling and stone-flagged floor more than makes up for it. This is one of those gigs where it's gone from strength to strength in four visits.

Aided by the incomparable and ubiquitous Martin Schofield Esq on drums (he of the more he drinks, the better he plays syndrome), it was a blistering night with a set that started at 9.30 and finished at 12.15! It was nice to see the Garside's who had made the trip over from Marsden and as ever thanks to everyone who turned up and of course, Gary and Raymond for having the band on.

Last, but least...Martin, despite the little tant over the set list, Rob still loves ya bro'!...
if only John Smiths could do the same for global harmony what a happier place the world would be...

21.03.08 - The Talbot - Burnley
Triumph over adversity!
A bit OTT, but nevertheless true. Initially it seemed as though this gig might have to be pulled as a replacement drummer and bassist couldn't be found. Naturally the venue was a little exasperated as it was the start of the famous Burnley Blues Festival weekend. With less than a week to go, help came in the shape of Leon Gill and Dale Murphy and, with only two rehearsals under their belts, they did a fantastic job.

Leon is much in the same mould as Martin Schofield who has sat in the drum seat for BYD on a number of occasions in as much as the more he drinks the better he plays! However, Leon needs a bit more practice (at drinking that is!).

Despite a few ropey starts and finishes it was a frenetically-paced set - shorter than usual for obvious reasons. But the audience didn't seemed to care, as even with a stand in drummer and bassist, the guys delivered a slick 2-hour set. Special thanks go to Graham and his friends who travelled all the way from Longton, near Preston as this was the only opportunity they had to see Rob before he bows out. Cheers guys.

15.03.08 - Hindley Arms - Hindley
Never judge a book by its cover...which is exactly what the band did when they first walked in to this venue. With football and rugby being shown via a myriad of huge screens and locals in rather high spirits, it seemed like a scene from Bob's Country Bunker - all that was missing was the chicken wire. Were they expecting a tight, kick-ass rock band? Despite the initial misgivings, the landlord assured the guys that by 8:45 the sports fans would be home and safely tucked up in bed (joke!) and all the rock aficionados would be pilling in - and he wasn't wrong. What a hidden gem this gig is!

They'd never seen a band like BYD before and the guy's didn't disappoint - evident by the fact no one wanted them to get off stage. But, after two and a half hours the band finally had to say goodbye. Great people. Great venue. Great Pizza. Great Landlady.. Shame about the Holts!

07.03.08 - The Old Market Tavern - Altrincham
A few tears and hugs-a-plenty...
without doubt, one of the bands' favourite venues which has just gone on from strength to strength over the years. Martin Schofield sat in for Tony K on drums and did an admirable job for over two and half hours.

Apart from the PA gremlins making a guest appearance and causing a halt for 10 minutes whilst one of the amps was bridged, the band were on fire. To close the set, the guys did an emotional cover of Freebird which left the audience begging for more, but hey it's Altrincham and the posh people need their beauty sleep too.

Special thanks to John, The Gentleman Landlord (who is part of Rob's family!), Wayne (for having us on in the first place) Eric, Shaz, Andrej, Bill, Jimmy (for taking the gigs at the OMT - you better do Rob a veggie tater pie next time he comes to you crappy quiz night!), Mandy (Smells Like Teen Spitit will never be the same), Gill (and here generous bosom), Bill, Rockstar (I'd get your money back from Dove Pro-Age, mate) his missus, Sharon and tons more.

Boneyard Dogs will be back with a new line-up so watch this space...

22.02.08 - The Bridge Tavern - Bradford
Not the best of starts to a gig! Even before the band had set off, the van they usually borrowed wouldn't start. So, after an attack of apoplexy and a few frenzied phone calls another was secured courtesy once more of James Needham Esq. (you could tell it was going to be one of those nights) As they approached Bradford, Tony's sat-nav gave up, so it was a case of remembering where the venue was:

Tony's sat-nav 0 - Rob's sense of direction 1.

Nevertheless the band arrived, albeit later than usual, and set up in record time. Not a huge crowd night, but it was a great night all the same and one guy in particular deserves a mention as he stood at the bar with his back to the band all night. Didn't clap once (an observation commented upon by Rob to the audience). Total arrogance - bet the only bike he owns is a Raleigh Chopper - complete and utter kn*b head.

15.2.08 - The Transport Club - Rochdale
We wish you well...
After all those years, initially starting off as a support band to the likes of Budgie, Adam Bomb, etc. it's only in the last few years or so the guys have be
